Shipping and Receiving Technician
The Shipping and Receiving Technician is responsible for the overall management and disposition of duties for all Central Receiving functions, to include, Surplus Management and Disposition, Postal Services, Shipping & Receiving and package deliveries.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Reviews and sorts, ships and delivers incoming and outgoing mail and packages;
- Responds appropriately to supply, mailroom, shipping and receiving inquiries and internal requests for assistance;
- Receives shipments into the Pitney Bowes system and subsequently receives all packages on purchase orders within the College's financial system;
- Identifies surplus property, completes surplus property transfer forms and related data entry; takes steps to assure disposal of surplus property;
- In coordination with the Property Accountant Specialist, applies appropriate asset management inventory decals to incoming assets, and completes supporting documents'
- In coordination with the Property Accountant Specialist, assists with annual agency physical inventory;
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) or more years of experience in surplus management and shipping & receiving
- Experience working with a state agency
- Experience with the shipping & receiving systems (Pitney Bowes, et.al.)
- Experience with financial and/or asset management systems (PeopleSoft, Workday, Asset Works, et.al.)
- Ability to use a computer and knowledge of basic computer program functions
- Valid Driver's License
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift/move objects weighing 25lbs or more; ability to work in various environmental conditions; ability to drive a fork lift; ability to operate a hand truck; ability to operate a golf cart. This position will work both in the field and in an office environment.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
