Events Manager
This position will be responsible for the marketing, scheduling and coordination of all College and non-College events held both on/in Savannah Technical College grounds/facilities or at off-campus sites. The position will manage all events calendars, room reservations, event logistics (setups, tear downs, catering, AV, equipment rentals, etc.), contracts, and billing, as well as rate setting for all services, to include room rental fees, service fees, etc.
Additionally, this position will assist Marketing in promoting Savannah Technical College and its campuses as premier locations to hos events (website updates, marketing materials, etc). Currently, Savannah Technical College has four campuses (Savannah, Pooler (2), Effingham, and Hinesville), with a fifth location on Bay Street in Savannah set to open for use in January 2025. Working hours may vary depending on event schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field *OR* Five (5) years related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five or more years in event management or hospitality
- Prior sales and marketing experience
- Experience working with and/or creating room layouts
- Experience working with and coordinating with multiple vendors for event completion (AV, rental companies, caterers, etc.)
Physical Demands:
Responsibilities are typically performed in an office or classroom setting with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing and pulling for up to three (3) - four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee occasionally lifts or move objects of a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes. Successful candidate will be expected to assist in setups and teardowns.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package. Positions are contingent upon funding.
