Adjunct Instructor - Class B Commercial Truck Driving
DESCRIPTION:
To deliver CDL Class “B” training to students and Business & Industry Clients at GA Piedmont Technical Colleges’ four county service delivery areas.
The successful candidate will be required to teach courses at the Regional Transportation Training Center. May be required to teach courses on the DeKalb Campus and/or the Newton Campus
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The instructor will instruct students in skilled and technical programs to a diverse population in business, industry and manufacturing
• Develop program and course outlines, goals and objectives
• Ability to administer tests and evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives
• Request and maintain supplies and equipment and prepare required budget requests
• Develop teaching method and maintain management procedures and documentation
• Maintain program certification requirements in the field of instruction
• Meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students
•Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to administer tests and evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Use computer and job-related software programs, interpersonal relations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires two years of teaching experience with Commercial truck driving operators.
Five years current driving experience with combination large vehicles in heavy traffic is required
and three years' experience in supervision, map reading and manifest reading.
Applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED. Two years formal training, a Class B Commercial Driving License (CDL), able to pass DOT physical and drug screen, and have strong computer, communication and interpersonal skills
Applicant must be willing to work on a flexible schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree from an accredited college or university *and* completed course comparable with the curriculum taught *OR* five (5) years of experience/expertise in ·the area of curriculum taught. CDL Examiners License, Defensive Driving Certification, extensive in-field work experience, teaching experience at the post-secondary level, and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population.
