Office of Transportation Data- Transportation Specialist 3- TRP052- PG M- Road Inventory Team Lead
Job Summary: Under broad supervision, provides advanced level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental, transportation data or traffic. May also serve as a lead worker providing training to lower-level staff.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Under limited supervision at an advanced working level, independently utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies in ArcGIS 10.x Software Suites to create, edit, analyze, and manage spatial data, perform raster and vector-based analysis for reporting and decision making.
- Work with various data types to integrate into GIS workflows and datasets, transferring spatial and non-spatial data from aerial imagery, county land base maps and other source documents.
- Consistent data creation and maintenance of multiple linear referencing systems.
- Creates, maintains, and updates City, County, and special use maps of greater complexity employing GIS technologies through related available equipment and resources.
- Supervises staff, conducts need assessments, and workflow development.
- Works closely with Program Manager to manage day-to-day operations and oversite related to QC
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications
Entry Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field AND One (1) year of job-related experience
- OR An Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of job-related experience
- OR One (1) year of experience at position equivalent.
Agency Specific Qualifications:
- Three years’ experience in Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies.
- Knowledge of GIS software to perform spatial analysis.
- Ability to become familiar with transportation-specific terminology and business operations within OTD.
- Ability to study procedures, operational methods, write technical manuals, interpret aerial photographs, maps, and graphs, and make recommendations for improving efficiency and accuracy.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, recommend action and provide innovative solutions.
- Deliver content to group seminars, forums, public communication, and presentations
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external staff in a professional, cooperative manner.
Agency Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of relational databases
- Knowledge of Cartographic principles
- Advanced working knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop and linear referencing principles
- Two years of experience in a supervisory role
- Experience working with transportation related data
- Experience working in a versioned environment
- Experience in performing and/or developing QA/QC processes
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365/Teams/SharePoint
