Metro Area Program Manager
Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - School Improvement is recruiting for an Education Program Manager. Under the direction of the division director, the Program Manager for the Metro Region of Georgia provides specific coaching and support to GaDOE school and district effectiveness specialists that provide direct support to school and district leaders focused on school improvement efforts. Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Description of Duties
- Provide overall leadership to and collaborating with GaDOE staff and other agencies external to the GaDOE to provide systems and schools guidance and training for school improvement
- Manage/supervise professional staff
- Ensure effective collaboration with Regional Education Service Agencies (RESAs) and GaDOE staff and programs, particularly the GaDOE regional support teams and school improvement specialists
- Effectively monitor improvement plans, short-term action plans, feedback provided to schools and districts and implementation of division processes and data collected
- Provide leadership and coordination for continuous improvement teams, including training and support to implement comprehensive needs assessments, data analysis, selecting evidence-based interventions, implementing and monitoring plans for improvement
- Monitor implementation of agreements outlined in the memoranda of agreement between GaDOE and districts that outline expectations for federally identified schools
- Develop, support, and evaluate state school and district effectiveness specialists working with federally identified comprehensive support and improvement schools
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, have experience in the following:
- Knowledge of performance standards and instructional design
- Self-directed and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Working knowledge of current research on school improvement and professional learning initiatives/programs
- Experience with K-12 school improvement programs
- Experience with program monitoring, data collection, reporting, and facilitating the necessary technical assistance to ensure not only compliance, but quality programs for students
- Strong knowledge of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Experience implementing comprehensive school reform programs or initiatives
- Experience conducting program evaluations
- Five or more years’ experience in a building-level or system-level leadership role
- Successful experience with designing, planning, developing, and conducting professional learning programs that are job- embedded and focused on impacting student achievement
- Experience with training and supporting professional staff as well as training module development
- Experience with performance standards and instructional design
****This is a remote telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. Consistent Metro Atlanta travel and minimal statewide travel will be required.
