OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Pay Grade: G

Salary Range: $33,042.45 - $52,364.30

 

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). We currently have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Human Resources Tech 2 in the Human Resources Division.

The Human Resources Tech 2 is responsible for entering and processing personnel and payroll transactions.  Compiling and filing employment reports. Searching files and furnishing information to authorized persons.

This position is perfect for a candidate who would enjoy supporting the department’s critical mission by assisting candidates for law enforcement and civilian positions.  This is an exciting time to join our department. We have strong organizational values and a family-like work culture with a supportive Command Staff.

 

Primary Functions:

  • Completes employment entry processes for new employees.
  • Ensures all required forms are completed and all documents are obtained.
  • Provides information to agency staff regarding transactions or other personnel related issues.
  • Reviews and processes personnel transactions.
  • Completes employment verifications.
  • Assists with Open Records requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with TeamWorks HCM

 

Selected applicant must pass a pre-employment background investigation. This includes a review of criminal, driver’s, and credit history. No polygraph examination is required for this position.

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience performing human resources job-related functions; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level HR Tech 1 (HRT010) or position equivalent.
