Special Population Resource Specialist

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Special Population Resource Specialist (Full-Time) position in the Student Services division.  This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. 
 
Job duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
·       Plan and implement a range of services for special population students.
·       Advise students on a variety of academic, social, and personal issues.
·       Conduct training and informational workshops for faculty and staff regarding teaching and serving students who belong to a special population.
·       Conduct informational workshops for students belonging to special populations on a variety of topics.
·       Refer students belonging to special populations to community agencies as appropriate.
·       Provide support to students with documented disabilities or other accommodations needs, ensuring equitable access to academic programs and services.
·       Assist in collecting data on special population students by accurately identifying and coding them in Banner.
 
Competencies:
·       Knowledge of curriculum and program development and evaluation.
·       Ability to research and collect necessary information
·       Ability to develop training courses.
·       Ability to conduct a needs analysis.
·       Ability to coordinate workshops and conferences.
·       Ability to advise staff on curriculum development, materials usage, and implementation procedures.
·       Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
·       Oral and written communication skills.
·       Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
·       Decision making and problem-solving skills.
 
 
Minimum Requirements:
Must possess and demonstrate a high school diploma / equivalent or an Associate’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, or a closely related area from an accredited institution AND two (2) years of experience working in a related field. Must also possess experience with using student information systems such as Banner.
**Please Note: Experience may substitute for a degree on a year-for -year basis **
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferences may be given to candidates who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Services, psychology, or a related area from a regionally accredited institution AND Four (4) or more years of work-related experience.
