Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Nursing Sciences Division that reports to the Dean - Nursing Science. Under the direction of the program director, prepares and tutors students.

 

Location: Lawrenceville and A-NF Campus

 

Salary: $50/hr. (The position is grant funded, therefore, continued employment is contingent on renewal of funding on an annual basis.)

 

Schedule - 19-hours per week, on campus, at the Lawrenceville campus; Monday through Friday; May occasionally work at the Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus

 

 

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Nursing.  Must hold a current RN licensure in Georgia.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following qualifications are desired:

  • Completed the nursing courses at GTC
  • Encouraging, approachable personality with the ability to communicate with students
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize workload
  • Subject matter expert in two or more areas in nursing: Med-Surg, Foundations, Assessment, Mental Health, Peds, OB, Pharmacology (drug calculations)
  • Two years of recent professional experience as a registered nurse
  • Knowledge of pedagogies is a plus
  • Ability to work with a diverse population

 

Job Description Summary:

Monitor, encourage, and facilitate group study sessions for Nursing Science students. Maintain attendance log and manage the study environment with multiple study groups-tutor/mentoring nursing students: one-on-one or in a group.

 

Under the direction of the program director, prepares and tutors nursing students. Tutor evaluates students’ progress in meeting end-of-program and student learning outcomes. Displays high effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately. Follows lesson plans for class/lab/clinical instruction. Access to a computer and internet are needed, if tutoring students online. Computer literacy required. 

If offered a position, employees in this department must complete the Hazardous Materials Training and the Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogen Training annually.

Promotes peer study sessions for Nursing Science courses; organized and adaptable to change in procedure    

·       Facilitates study groups for Nursing Science courses including Med-Surg, Foundations, Assessment, Mental Health, Peds, OB, Pharmacology (drug calculations)

·       Efficiently and creatively encourage peer group study

·       Maintain attendance log by course

·       Provide feedback to program director routinely to ensure student outcomes

·       Monitor progress and track success

  • Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; notifies supervisor in accordance with department policy when arriving late or when absent; observes provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act; uses work time appropriately.
  • Must follow the Georgia Board of Nursing requirements for CEU
