FACILITIES TECHNICIAN LEAD

 

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician Lead will ensure that facilities are well-maintained and in working order. The Facilities Technician Lead will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of facilities and equipment. This role ensures that all facilities are in good working order, meeting safety standards and supporting the operational needs of the organization. The Facilities Technician Lead will work closely with other team members and departments to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the day-to-day subject matter expert on routine repairs and preventative maintenance routines
  • Serves as a backup to the Facilities Manager on matters related to facilities maintenance
  • Assists Facilities Manager in assigning helpdesk tickets to the Facilities Team
  • Organizes and participates in project planning meetings with contractors for sites and groups
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, flooring, and carpentry
  • Performs regular inspections of building systems, including lighting, security, and fire safety systems.
  • Responds to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and proper functioning of all areas within the facilities.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assists Facilities Manager in providing oversight of vendor repairs, including quality and completion checks
  • Works collaboratively with the Health and Safety Team to ensure environmental safety of all facilities owned, leased, or managed by Claratel Behavioral Health
  • Implements corrective measures to address maintenance concerns
  • Assists in the execution of facility improvement projects
  • Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for maintenance and repairs
  • Tracks and manages the use of materials and resources efficiently
  • Provides excellent customer service to facility users and address their maintenance needs promptly
  • Communicates effectively with staff and other departments regarding maintenance schedules and activities
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and maintains role-specific certifications
  • Assists with departmental projects, as needed, to support and promote the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic plan

 

SKILL, COMPETENCY AND EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical training or certification in facility maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility maintenance or a similar role.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Two or more years in a similar role in a human service or behavioral health organization
  • Experience conducting compliance audits or health and safety reviews

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with maintenance tools and equipment.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, and reaching.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment.

 

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS: 

  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Works well as a part of a team
  • Attend various interdepartmental meetings
  • Incumbent should be professional and personable exhibiting a willingness, enthusiasm, and commitment to improving the physical environments of Claratel Behavioral Health facilities and service locations.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • The job is routinely 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but is expected to adhere to an afterhours on-call rotation and may be required to work some evenings, overnights, and weekends in response to facilities emergencies or major projects
  • Frequently travels to other Claratel Behavioral Health locations for preventative and ongoing maintenance and environmental repairs, and provide technical assistance on facilities issues
  • Must operate agency vehicles for travel between sites

 

NEEDED ATTRIBUTES: 

  • Incumbent must possess a pleasant personality and exhibit enthusiasm in implementing health, safety, and compliance initiatives
  • Ability to work independently on recurring tasks at remote Claratel Behavioral Health sites
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Incumbent must be a great team player and work together with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that tasks and projects are completed in the highest quality and in the most effective and efficient way
  • Must be able to work under time constraints to ensure that tasks are delivered within specified timeframes
  • Stakeholders should see this staff person as a valuable resource and not hesitate to ask for help
  • The ability to conduct objective evaluations, write clearly, speak before groups, and gain and maintain respect of co-workers is a must
  • Must be comfortable using technology
