Lanier Technical College – (www.laniertech.edu) is conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA-exempt position. POSITION: PART-TIME PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT TUTOR – Forsyth Campus

REPORTS TO: Director of Academic Success

  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·         Tutors student(s) at Lanier Technical College in the subject area of Physical Therapy;

·         Meets with student(s) on an established basis in a learning center, community location, or classroom site convenient to both tutor and student(s);

·         Assigns manageable tasks and provides positive feedback;

·         Finds and prepares appropriate teaching materials that suit the student(s)’ ability, goals, and interests;

·         Discusses student(s) progress with appropriate staff;

·         Carefully listens to student(s) and offers encouragement and support;

·         Maintains a positive, warm attitude that encourages the student(s) to learn;

·         Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;

·         Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the tutoring areas;

·         Meets ALL required deadlines as established by Supervisor;

·         Performs basic administrative duties to support the daily operations of the tutoring program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current LTC student with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the area of Physical Therapy, *OR* an applicant that demonstrates the ability and experience in the area of Physical Therapy. 

Successful completion of physical therapist assistant classes with a minimum grade of “B” in degree-level physical therapy courses, such as Functional Anatomy & Kinesiology, Physical Therapy Procedures I, Physical Therapy Procedures II, Pathology, Rehabilitation I, and Rehabilitation II.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):

Associates of Applied Sciences in Physical Therapist Assistant degree, Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, or closely related field from a regionally accredited College or University;

Previous work experience as a Tutor.

Knowledge of vocational area of assignment
Skill in the use of computers and job related software programs
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners
Effective oral and written communication skills
Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Would occasionally lift or move objects of a light to medium weight, up to 20 pounds.  Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.  Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes. 

This position is available at all Lanier Tech campuses; and day and evening times are available.
