Lanier Technical College – (www.laniertech.edu) is preparing for increased student enrollment for Spring semester beginning January 13, 2025.  Therefore, we are conducting a search now for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA-exempt position. POSITION: ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (ASN) ADJUNCT CLINICAL NURSING INSTRUCTOR – Forsyth Campus; Cumming, GA

REPORTS TO: Associate of Science in Nursing Program Director
STARTING DATE:  Summer Semester - May 2025

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of clinical instruction in the north Georgia area, and for providing related services and support activities required for optimal student learning.  Will also assist and support the Program Director, as needed, in meeting institutional, accreditation, and curricular requirements of the program, department and division.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides instruction, supervision, and evaluation of student’s performance in various clinical, lab, and simulation settings;
  • Teach contact hours per week as assigned (weekdays) for the full duration of scheduled instruction;
  • Enforce academic policies and procedures at all times and comply with all other institutional rules and regulations pertinent to classroom/clinical/lab instruction and general employment.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Course Coordinator and attend all course team and program planning meetings; 
  • Complete clinical agency faculty orientation and comply with the mandatory requirements of each clinical site, and maintain a collaborative, positive relationship with clinical agency staff; 
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures related to student progression and program completion;
  • Maintain complete and accurate student records, and provide academic feedback to students on a regular basis to improve performance;
  • Follows guidelines established in the ACEN Standards and Criteria.

May perform other work-related duties as assigned by the course coordinator and/or the program director. May teach one to two days of clinical instruction weekly during fall semester. Semester clinical rotations typically last 10 weeks during the fall semester. Clinical groups will be assigned to area health care system facilities, and/or outpatient healthcare facilities in north Fulton, Forsyth, or Hall county areas, depending on the particular course being taught. Hours are variable; however, the clinical day usually begins at 0630, and is customarily an 8 or 10 hour day, depending on the need and the clinical unit.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • Active, unencumbered/unrestricted GA RN license;
  • Current AHA CPR for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Recent (within the last 5 years, 2019) bedside med-surg patient care experience.
  • All requirements of the clinical site must be met (including, but not limited to: current immunizations, drug screening, Bloodborne Pathogens training, annual flu shot immunization & PPD, possible COVID immunization). 
  • Core Performance Standards must be met as per the Southern Regional Education Board (may be viewed at: https://www.sreb.org/publication/americans-disabilities-act).
 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to work flexible hours 
  • Ability to supervise diverse student body in a variety of clinical, lab and/or classroom settings
  • Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies
  • Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for accreditation agencies, and the College.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fair and unbiased manner, and to maintain a pleasant, professional relationship with students and faculty/staff
  • Skill in the operation of work-related computers (computerized charting system, basic Blackboard use, etc.)
  • Appropriate oral and written communication skills and can effectively communicate information to students who might function at the new, beginning, or advanced level
  • Effective human relations, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum and competencies):

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution;
  • Clinical instructional experience; recent electronic health record experience and current clinical skills;
  • Current membership in a professional Nursing organization;
  • Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment;
  • Background experience in the areas of medical-Surgical, Maternal-Child, and/or Psychiatric Nursing.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
