Internship Opportunity Program

Shape the Future of Technology in State Government

The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is seeking high-performing, motivated students who are ready to gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting enterprise technology that serves millions of Georgians.

This internship program offers exposure to strategic initiatives, executive-level leadership, and mission-critical IT operations within state government.

Program Overview

GTA’s Internship Program is designed to:

·         Provide real-world experience in public sector technology

·         Develop emerging professionals through structured learning and mentorship

·         Build a pipeline of future-ready talent for state government

·         Expose students to enterprise-level IT strategy, governance, and innovation

Interns will contribute to impactful projects while gaining professional development that extends beyond the classroom.

Internship Tracks Available:

·         Application Development (Developer) – High School Only 
Gain foundational exposure to application development and DevOps practices within the Application/Development Operations division. Participants will engage in hands-on learning, contribute to active development initiatives, and support real-world coding efforts under technical mentorship.

·         Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Introduce AI concepts, tools, and enterprise use cases, supporting initiatives related to automation, analytics, and intelligent solutions that enhance business outcomes.

·         Broadband 
Support statewide broadband initiatives by gaining exposure to infrastructure and connectivity planning, grant administration, stakeholder engagement, and program implementation efforts designed to expand reliable internet services and close the digital divide.

·         Business Development – Business Analyst
Collaborate within a DevOps environment with a strategic focus on customer engagement, requirements gathering, process improvement, and project success metrics. This track emphasizes bridging technical solutions with business needs.

·         Cloud Architecture
Partner with the Agency Architecture Team to develop an understanding of enterprise-level cloud environments. Exposure includes cloud infrastructure design principles, governance frameworks, security considerations, and scalable architecture strategies.

Internship assignments are determined based on organizational priorities, project availability, and the intern’s academic background, competencies, and demonstrated interests.

Candidate Requirements Internship assignments are strategically aligned, whenever feasible, with the intern’s academic discipline, career objectives, and demonstrated competencies.

Intern must:

• Be a full-time student enrolled in a Georgia; high school, technical college, or accredited college/university (Must be currently enrolled during the internship)
• At least 18 years old
• Team orientated

·         Must provide most recent academic transcript

·         Must be legally permitted to work in the United States

·         Meet any additional requirements of the attending school's Internship Program

THE SELECTED APPLICANT FOR THE INTERNSHIP WILL BE SUBJECT TO A REFERENCE CHECK AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK, WHERE APPLICABLE.

Program Details

·         Location: Hybrid (47 Trinity Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30334)

·         Schedule: Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm); In office: Tuesday & Thursday

·         Duration: Summer term

·         Compensation: Paid internship

o    High School: $15.00/hour

o    Undergraduate Students – Graduate Students: $18.00/hour
