DOL Services Specialist (Unemployment Insurance Services Specialist 1)

The Georgia Department of Labor is currently seeking qualified applicants to be considered for a DOL Services Specialist position in the Atlanta Career Center in downtown Atlanta, GA.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Conducts interviews with job, program or unemployment applicants to obtain the information
needed to provide services - Assists customers in-person and/or by phone with unemployment related issues and questions
- Provides one on one assistance with claims filing process
- Submits all claims related documents to imaging system
- Advises the claimant of their responsibilities for claiming benefits weekly, submitting work searches, and appeal rights.
- Accurately answers client questions concerning program eligibility and explains appeals process
- Processes claims from the universal queue
- Evaluates application information and determines initial or ongoing program eligibility.
- Refers applicants to services such as counseling, literacy or language instruction, transportation assistance, and childcare.
- Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas
Preferred Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administrations, Public Administration, Human Services or a related field.
- Two years’ experience processing Unemployment Insurance Claims
- Relevant experience in labor relations, employment services, or social services.
- Understanding of Labor Laws, regulations, and policies as well as knowledge of workforce development programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities and proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple cases and tasks effectively.
