Area Superintendent - Central Office - Decatur, GA (ADM)
Job Summary:
Under broad supervision, supervises and supports administrative and leadership duties of the Education staff within the assigned regional territory of the Office of Education. Performs operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making. Identifies trends, discrepancies, and policy variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of unit operations. May partner with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors to address business and operational issues. Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment. May administer or provide high level support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions. Provides overall strategic analysis.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the creation of all reports, records, and other paperwork as assigned by the School District, the Agency, the Georgia Department of Education, and the Federal Government, and other paperwork that may be appropriate to the district’s administration, while meeting all deadlines.
- Keeps the supervisor informed and works cooperatively with all other staff in school, School District, and Agency-related matters.
- Maintains a positive, collaborative, and mutually supportive working relationship with community agencies, parents, students, and Agency, School District, and school staff.
- Provides administrative oversight to multiple locations and ensures Agency and School District policies are implemented.
- Leads, organizes, and directs the work of others and directly supervises Lead Teachers and Principals
- Responsible for daily operations of the School District locations and implementation of the district’s strategic plan
- Manages timekeeping (KRONOS) for all direct reports.
- Reviews and approves timesheets for additional programs.
- Conducts Leadership and Teacher Evaluation System (TKES and LKES)
- Conducts Focus Walk Observations for non-TKES RYDC/ETC teachers.
- Completes ePerformance for the on-site leader.
- Serves as the instructional leader and ensures classroom procedures are correct.
- Evaluates and reviews investigations to determine appropriate response.
- Reviews Infinite Campus to ensure schools follow policies and procedures.
- Conducts observations for after-school programming.
- Completes an annual report for each assigned school.
- Maintains documentation for Continuous Improvement, and COGNIA accreditation.
- Acts as a liaison between the assigned schools and Central Office.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in leadership and SRL – Level 5 Certificate in School Leadership from
- Professional Standards Commission
- Three years of teaching experience
- Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience in school operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education Specialist in Leadership and SRL – Level 6 Certificate in School Leadership from
- Professional Standards Commission
- Or Doctorate in Leadership and SRL – Level 7 Certificate in School Leadership from Professional
- Standards Commission

- Classroom and school environment
- Understanding of detention operations and security procedures
Physical Demands:
- Statewide travel
- Lifting and moving items under 30 lbs.
