Job Title: Tutor/Proctor
Job Summary
The tutor/proctor is responsible for tutoring and proctoring exams for student learners or a small group of learners at a technical college.
Major Duties
- Tutor students at a technical college in subjects that include writing, math, science, computer skills, life skills, etc.
- Meets with students on an established basis in a learning center or classroom site convenient to both tutor and student(s)
- Finds and prepares appropriate teaching materials that suit the student(s) ability, goals and interests if necessary
- Discuss student’s progress with appropriate staff
- Carefully listen to students and offer encouragement and support
- Maintains a positive, warm attitude that encourages students to learn
- Facilitates virtual tutoring appointments when needed
- Assists faculty members in the classroom when needed
- Proctor student exams and maintains integrity with testing procedures
- Facilitates exam accommodations for students during proctored exams when needed
- Performs basic administrative duties to support the daily operations of the tutoring program, proctoring services and General Education department
