Electrical Lineworker Lab Assistant
Position: Electrical Lineworker Professional Lab Assistant; Part Time
Location: Blairsville Campus
Description: Under general supervision, assist full time faculty to instruct students in a class A commercial truck driving skills in the Electrical Lineworker courses on the Blairsville Campus. Applicants should have effective use of oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current in-field procedures. Applicants should follow the guidance and instruction from the primary instructor for their daily schedule. The applicant will also assist in monitoring student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Position involves working up to 29 hours a week Monday through Thursday, may require occasional Friday work hours. Lab Assistant responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) to four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50 lbs. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the lab environment. This position requires a DOT Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol test, and the position shall be subject to Random Drug/Alcohol testing.
Major Duties:
· Maintain inside and outside lab environments
· Assist in creating and facilitating lab activities with student groups to earn their Class A license with a pintle hook restriction
· Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area
· Assist in maintaining equipment and inventory
· Accompany instructor on curricular field trips
Minimum Qualifications:
· Valid and Current Georgia Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Truck Driver’s License: Class A
Preferred Qualifications:
· Related work experience as a journeyman lineworker including overhead and underground distribution construction and maintenance, and as a crew supervisor and/or trainer.
