Tax Examiner 1 - Title Processing

The Georgia Department of Revenue is hiring a Tax Examiner to support its mission of supporting the Motor Vehicle Division’s Title Processing Unit in administering state tax laws efficiently and fairly. The role involves reviewing various registration applications for completeness and compliance with federal and state requirements & communicating with internal and external customers on the status of pending applications and registrations via electronic and in-person interactions.
The Tax Examiner plays a vital role in assisting customers in-person, via phone, and email. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Answering inquiries and addressing customer issues
- Using independent judgment to perform clerical duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting or related field ~ or~ one year of job-related experience (e.g., Office Clerk, Secretary, Data Entry, Customer Service Window)
Preferred qualifications include work-related experience using and/or providing instruction for an online registration system and/or work-related experience receiving and responding to emails
*DoR temporary associates must have completed at least 6 consecutive months on the current assignment for consideration.
Salary: $38,200
Location: 4125 Welcome All Rd, Atlanta 30349 - This is not a remote position and will require an in-office presence with working hours of 8am to 4:45pm, Monday to Friday. Depending on business requirements, the start time may be adjusted to 7:30am.
