IDEA Program Specialist
Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- Federal Programs is recruiting for an experienced IDEA Program Specialist. Under broad supervision, this position will provide guidance and support services for special education state and federal grants. Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
Description of Duties
- Support the implementation of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) fiscal programmatic requirements in accordance with federal regulation, policies and guidance as well as the State Board of Education policies
- Participate in technical assistance to local educational agencies and subgrantees in program and fiscal planning, implementation, and effectiveness
- Review and approve special education state and federal grant applications and budgets
- Assist the program manager with the development of procedures
- Conduct program reviews and observations
- Participate in fiscal monitoring activities
- Prepare accurate reports and other documents related to the areas of responsibility that communicate clearly and adequately
- Provide customer service and support to local educational agencies for implementation of IDEA fiscal requirements
- Analyze fiscal data
- Maintain records
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the individuals with Disabilities Education Act
- Georgia professional educator certification
- Teaching and/or administrative experience in a public school or system setting
- Highly effective interpersonal, group, verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong knowledge base of best practices in educational statistical analysis and reporting
- Experience in data analysis and interpretation using a variety of software solutions
- Demonstrated success in self-motivation/initiative and leadership and the continuous improvement process
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with school personnel, staff, students, and other support agencies or organizations
- Ability to manage multiple, overlapping high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment
****This is a remote telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. This position requires occasional travel within assigned region and statewide. If you have already applied for this position, it is not necessary to reapply.
