The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.

 

This is a hybrid position located in Metro Atlanta.

 

Job Description

 

Job Title:  Supported Employment Coordinator 

 

Pay Grade: K

 

Job Responsibilities: 

Supported Employment Coordinator

Under the limited supervision of the Director of Community Services within the DBHDD Division of DD Office of Community Service, the supported employment analyst will support the statewide work of supported employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

 

Required Knowledge/Competencies

• Extensive knowledge of prevailing national thought/best practices regarding customized/supported employment and services that support people with IDD in participating in other valued, inclusive roles and settings.

• Ability to clearly communicate the Department’s unambiguous commitment to employment as the preferred outcome of IDD services.

• Skills to lead a major statewide initiative to transform a predominantly facility-based IDD day services system into a predominately community-based employment system.

• Analyze the implications of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations as they relate to service implementation.

• Excellent writing and public speaking skills; ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and a wide range of stakeholders; ability to write reports and plans.

• Sensitive to cultural diversity and able to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.

• Recognize sensitive and/or potentially “hot button” issues that need to be reported to supervisors/management.

• Ability to identify data needs, analyze available data and make decisions based on the best available data.

• Demonstration of strong organizational skills such as the ability to handle responsibility, prioritize work, work independently, and respond effectively to multiple urgent issues.

• Training or experience in the use of computer applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software

 

Job Duties include, but not limited to:

Daily data analysis and tracking of the work of supported employment

Track funding sources and invoicing to support the work of job development and continued supports individuals

Track providers billing appropriate funding source as related to service delivery outcome

Quality improvement tracking of provider performance around established standards

Provide technical assistance to email inquiries and track for trends of TA needs (keep you informed of trends and let you handle bigger TA concerns)

Track trends within service delivery for use with policy revisions and process improvement

Creation and tracking of programmatic deliverables and report creation for use with a multitude of audience types to support the work occurring within supported employment

Monitor provider contracts for compliance with required deliverables and measure the advancement of programmatic outcomes

Drafting of newsletter articles and other publications for communication and updating on the work of supported employment and status in GA

Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience OR Five years of related experience. 

 

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the behavioral sciences, special education, public administration or business administration AND at least five years of related experience in developmental disabilities services.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Previous experience in the field of Supported Employment services, Association for Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) certification or willingness to obtain.

5 years technical experience (database management – SQL/Oracle; data systems –Harmony, CIS, SIRS, GAMMIS; Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Publisher, and Visio; project modeling)

Knowledge and Experience with Medicaid and Medicare

Keen attention to details
