Part-Time Tutor - Math / English / Reading
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for the Part-time Tutor positions in the Academic Success / Arts and Sciences department within the Academic and Student Affairs division. This position is located at ATC's Main Campus, located just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Atlanta Technical College, a unit of the Technical College system of Georgia (TCSG), is looking to hire part-time tutors for its Academic Success Center in the areas of Math, English, and Reading. Tutors will provide academic support to currently enrolled Atlanta Technical College students in courses such as College Algebra (MATH 1111), Composition and Rhetoric, (ENGL 1101), Speech (SPCH 1101), etc. This is a part-time position, up to twenty (20) hours per week.
Job Duties include, but may not be limited to, the following:
· Provide academic support in the form of tutoring to ATC students who are struggling in Math, English, Reading, etc.
· Work in conjunction with F/T Academic Support Specialists to further support academically struggling students in Math, English, Reading, etc.
· Communicate often with faculty, and other designated employees to ascertain student needs.
· Utilize basic computer skills and relevant software applications (ATC currently uses an electronic tutorial platform called UPSWING to help support student tutorial needs).
· Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures. Attire is semi - professional at all times (must stay within the parameters of the established dress code).
· Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to submit all requested documentation such as any tutor reports, employee timesheets, etcetera in a timely manner.
· Perform all duties and responsibilities within the Academic Success Center, unless otherwise directed by immediate supervisor / Dean of Arts & Sciences.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a current technical college student with an overall GPA of 3.0 and have experience in the subject matter; OR possess and demonstrate a bachelor's degree in any field with demonstrated mastery in either MATH or ENGLISH {based on review of college transcripts}.
Preferred Requirements
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:
· Bachelor's degree or higher in MATH or ENGLISH with GPA of 3.5 or better.
· Willing to work with diverse student populations and possess the ability to self-start, work within a team concept well, and have.
· Good technological skills, in addition to strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Willing to maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to the institution's established dress code guidelines.
ATC student applicants are strongly encouraged to present a letter of recommendation from a previous Math Instructor (s).
