This position is in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) West Central District Office in Macon, Georgia.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:  supervising the activities of Environmental Specialists; reviewing and approving letters, inspection reports and enforcement actions; and negotiating settlements of enforcement actions.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to applicants with the following experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in state and federal government environmental compliance and enforcement programs, including Comprehensive Solid Waste and Air Quality Control

  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary regulatory programs

  • Demonstrated skills and ability in negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering (agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical or sanitary) or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of professional experience in environmental enforcement, environmental health, environmental monitoring, environmental protection or environmental research. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis for a maximum of Two years non-managerial/supervisory experience.
