Lanier Technical College is conducting a search for the following adjunct position for its DAWSONVILLE, GA campus. This is a part time, non-benefits eligible position. POSITION: ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR DAWSONVILLE
REPORTS TO: Dean of Applied Technology and Transportation
COMPENSATION: Depending on education and qualifications
DEADLINE: Until Filled
EFFECTIVE: Fall 2025 Semester
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, develops course outlines, goals and objectives; Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited courses; Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate; Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Completes required training. Note classes typically run between the hours of 4pm and 10pm Monday – Thursday.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Diploma in electrical construction or closely related field AND demonstrated competencies in specific course content (see course listing below), minimum of three years relevant work experience, and possesses a state electrical license or a journeyman card.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire.
· Ability to interpret and create electrical prints and schematics.
· Knowledge of basic electricity, codes, applications. and conduct hands-on labs
· Ability to teach the importance of safety policies and procedures.
· Ability to work flexible hours, and juggle multiple & competing priorities.
· Ability to supervise students in the classroom and lab
· Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans.
· Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.
· Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the college.
· Familiar with online teaching platforms such as Backboard or Canvas
· Ability to teach courses online, onsite or hybrid
· Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Courses include:
o Direct Current Fundamentals
o Alternating Current Fundamentals
o Commercial Wiring
o Residential Wiring
o Wire Pulling and Codes
o Electrical Schematics and Symbols
o Conduit Sizing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies):
· Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills is a plus
· More than three (3) years of electrical utility or closely related work experience
· Associates degree in Electrical Systems or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
· Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Backboard or Canvas.
