POSITION: Dental Assisting Lab/Clinical Coordinator - Hall County Campus
REPORTS TO: Dean of Allied Health
SALARY: Upper $40’s to Low $50’s annually, depending on qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for coordinating with the Dental Assisting Program Director to provide education and/or training to students in the Dental Assisting program in order to become dental assistants. Will also be under the indirect supervision of the Dental Assisting Program Director.
MAJOR DUTIES:
· Assists individual students in the lab and practicum environment.
· Assists with demonstrations, administering testing, and grading.
· Oversees and monitors laboratory space and/or computer lab.
· Assures adherence to safety and cleanliness standards, maintaining an effective and safe learning environment where students can perform program-level tasks.
· Assists in the collection and management of confidential student data.
· Assists with and participates in advisory committee meetings.
· Communicates students' progress to students and discusses appropriate changes to improve performance as needed.
· Calculates, records, and reports students' grades accurately in Blackboard.
· Assesses students in the laboratory setting.
· Secures contracts for practicum rotations.
· Maintains program database and student records, including student vaccinations and CPR.
· Assists dental assisting director in classroom and practicum settings.
· Performs practicum site visit procedures.
· Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· A graduate of a CODA-accredited Dental Assisting program; a Registered Dental Hygienist (with an active license); or a Dentist (with an active license).
· A current BLS Healthcare Provider certificate.
· A current Certified Dental Assistant credential issued by the Dental Assisting National Board (unless a licensed dentist).
· A current CPR card.
COMPETENCIES:
· Knowledge of course standards and skill/expertise in the subject area.
· Skill in the operation of lab equipment and/or computers.
· Appropriate oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate information
to students who function at the new, beginning, or advanced level.
· Ability to perform lab competencies, maintain accurate records, and prepare lesson materials.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Dentrix, and Eaglesoft.
· Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies):
· Advanced degree.
· Previous work experience as a Dental Assistant.

This position is eligible for 1 day of telework (up to 9 hours) after 6 months of employment.
