This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA Non-exempt position in the Technology and Operations Division that reports to the Manager of Information Technology.  This position’s primary location will be the Lawrenceville Campus.  

 

Schedule:

Tues-Thur 10:00am – 7:00pm

Fri – Sat 7:30am – 4:00pm

(flexibility required for event coverage)

 

Salary:  Targeted salary is commensurate with education and experience not to exceed the budgeted amount of $52,000 per year. 

 

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10610 Category 1)
Associate’s degree *and* three (3) years of work-related experience.

 

Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

In addition to the minimum qualifications, 5+ years’ experience working on AV and automation technology including but not limited to: changing bulbs and cleaning projectors, digital signage applications, video conferencing systems such as Cisco Webex and Vaddio, AV switch configurations such as Extron & Crestron, microphone setups, audio mixers, etc… The successful candidate’s skills also include PC and software installation and troubleshooting skills and experience. Experience working with both internal and external customers for staged productions and events.

 

 

Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance to faculty and staff as it relates to primarily audio visual equipment, set up and maintenance, but also PC and software support. Maintains an inventory system for all audio/visual and technological equipment. Works with team of technicians and AV specialists to support both PC and AV needs of the college. May serve as site facilitator and coordinator for audio visual needs on campus. May supervise subordinate employees. Troubleshoots problems and provides customer assistance and training. Determines technology needs of internal and external customers and recommends solutions to meet their needs. May coordinate the division's satellite and two-way interactive video activities. Assists in maintenance of current records for equipment.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provides technical assistance to faculty and staff for instructional delivery as well as meetings, conferences, etc. via two-way interactive video, computer networks and multimedia work stations. 

·        Assists in appropriate assessment of need for technology.

·        Recommends use of appropriate hardware and software for programs and target populations.

·        Responds to requests for assistance in a timely manner.

·        Evaluates distance learning faculty, equipment, facilities and services for effectiveness.

·        Coordinates GSAMS equipment for student educational sessions and provides appropriate assistance to staff for operating the equipment, as necessary.

Maintains an inventory system for all audio/visual and technological equipment.

  • Maintains and continually monitors an efficient inventory system for materials and supplies for the education program.
  • Maintains an effective inventory and check-out system for media equipment. Assesses the condition of equipment each time equipment is returned.
  • Maintains accurate records and logs of all inventory, equipment and services rendered according to established procedures.
  • Ensures invoices of audio/visual services are sent to the appropriate group and to accounting section in a timely manner.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with the business office to keep it abreast of necessary repairs to equipment and/or acquisition of replacement parts.

Provides quality service to internal and external customers by addressing problems or issues involving hardware, software or networks through a help desk function.

·        Answers customer inquiries received in writing, by telephone, or through electronic mail in an appropriate and timely manner; reads communications thoroughly or listens attentively to customers.

·        Poses appropriate questions to facilitate problem determination and applies analytical or research techniques and judgment to isolate or clarify problems, gauge severity and establish priority.

·        Confirms warranty and maintenance coverage where equipment is involved.

·        Assumes responsibility for assignment until customer problem is resolved or reassigned.

·        Resolves problems or escalates more difficult issues to appropriate division personnel. Identifies outside resources, where appropriate, and assists customers to access those resources.

·        Responds to customer follow-up inquiries in a timely manner and keeps customer updated on resolution progress.

·        Verifies problem resolution with customer to ensure customer satisfaction according to division guidelines. Utilizes customer evaluations to implement service improvements.

·        Enters all required problem information into a tracking system in accordance with prescribed procedures.

·        Provides problem tracking reports to managers and customers as requested.

·        Post solutions and suggestions on Web page for benefit of other users.

Serves as site facilitator and coordinator.

·        Coordinates the scheduling of distance learning classes for the technical college in conjunction with off-campus personnel.

·        Schedules conferences with other technical colleges, other institutions or other state agencies.

·        Records or tapes distance learning conferences and workshops.

·        Provides copies of schedule confirmation or cancellations to involved sites of any scheduled conference prior to event.
