Instructor - Electrical Systems Technology
Employment Terms: This job is a full-time, benefited, FLSA exempt/professional position in the Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing & Design Division that reports to the Dean of Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing & Design. This position is primarily located on the Lawrenceville, Georgia, campus but may also teach courses on the Alpharetta, Georgia, campus. (This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is contingent on renewal of funding on an annual basis.)
Salary: $62,400/yr
Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10065) Associate’s degree in Electrical Systems Technology or a related field. Diploma in Electrical Systems Technology or a related field from an accredited college or technical institution; current unrestricted licensed electrical construction for State of Georgia OR Industry Certification in the discipline. Two (2) years’ related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Licensed electrician with industry experience in residential, commercial and industrial wiring. K-12 or postsecondary teaching experience.
Job Description Summary: Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Electrical Systems Technology courses at a Gwinnett Technical College. Develops program and syllabi, goals, and objectives. Teaches face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes as needed to provide course delivery and scheduling options that promote student retention and program completion. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
