Job Opening:    Human Resources Generalist

 

Annual Salary:  $51,480 

 

Example of Duties: Under general supervision of the HR Program Manager, effectively administers staffing for key positions within the agency while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. Updates and creates job descriptions as needed; publishes timely internal and external vacancy announcements; organizes, facilitates, and conducts pre-employment testing and interviews, as needed; uses applicant tracking system to post vacancies and screen resumes; uses various social media options in advertising vacancies and recruiting potential applicants; assists with pre-employment requirements (criminal history background checks, motor vehicle record checks), new hire documents, and on-boarding; schedules and attends recruitment events as needed. Trains, and provides guidance and oversight to, regional hiring coordinators. Partners with the HR Manager to develop innovative strategies for recruitment, employee retention, and succession planning. Performs other HR functions as assigned.  

 

Minimum Qualifications: associate degree from an accredited college or university OR Two years of human resource experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; proficient in use of social media applications; familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; good interpersonal skills with experience successfully building relationships; demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills; ability to make sound and well-informed decisions with strong analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to effectively respond and resolve internal and external customer needs. Organized with excellent follow-up and follow through; good attention to detail; meets deadlines and goals.  

 

50% travel throughout the state with some overnight stays. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Human Resources or similar major from an accredited college or university; two or more years of HR experience; demonstrated staffing or recruiting experience; experience with Taleo as an Applicant Tracking System; experience working in HR in state government.  

 

Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provides the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year for year basis. 

 

 

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of human resource experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level HR Generalist 1 (HRP010) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
