FWS - Web Design
This job is a Federal Work Study, non-benefited position in the Computer Science Division that reports to the Web Design Program Director. Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program by the Department of Education. This program provides part-time jobs for undergraduate students with significant financial need and is administered by the FWS Coordinator, and the Office of Financial Aid, in accordance with the law, federal regulations, and with instructions from the United States Department of Education.
Salary: $13.50 per hour.
Hours: Days and Hours are flexible up to 19 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be eligible for funds through the Federal Work Study Program for the current semester at Gwinnett Technical College and be in good academic standing.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following technical competencies are preferred:
Must be enrolled in the Web Design program in Gwinnett Technical College. Must have a basic understanding of web designing principles and practices. Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication, adeptness in explaining technical concepts to diverse students. Enthusiasm to both acquire and disseminate knowledge among colleagues. Proactive approach and capacity for self-initiated learning and skill application. Ability to effectively collaborate within team settings. Careful attention to detail.
Ability to use basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms. B or higher grade in HTML, CSS & JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrators.
Ability to deliver basic skills in PHP. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload; Ability to communicate, meet deadlines, exhibit proper judgment in selecting which questions to handle or re-direct. Prefer a 2nd quarter computer science/web design major.
Job Description Summary:
Under close supervision, assist with Computer Science/Web design computer labs and must be able to execute duties as instructed. Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in web design subjects.
