Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Financial Aid Technician (Full-Time) position in the Financial Aid Division.  This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

 

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Financial Aid Director, the Financial Aid Technician (Full-Time) serves as the first point of contact for students inquiring about Financial Aid.  

 

 

Duties will include but may not be limited to:

 

·       Helping students apply for all types of aid and providing updates on the status of their applications.

·       Responsible for opening and/or closing the Office of Financial Aid each day.

·       Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

·       Demonstrate and deliver excellent, professional customer service, organization, and attention to detail.

·       Perform administrative, clerical, and customer service duties in support of the Office of Financial Aid.

·       Professionally disseminate general Financial Aid information to students and the general public.

·       Provide information regarding Financial Aid resources available to students and parent.

·       Evaluate Financial Aid applications and supporting documents for accuracy, clarity, and completeness to determine basic eligibility for Financial Aid.

·       Update appropriate BANNER forms and other Financial Aid Software related to the document intake process.

·       Instruct students in correct procedures for completing forms and applications.

·       Analyze and determine the status of applications and forms and refer complex situations to the appropriate Financial Aid Specialist.

·       Manage the Office of Financial Aid email account, front desk telephones, and QLess ticketing system.

·       Demonstrates a positive, inclusive, and welcoming disposition.

·       Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively; and

·       Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

 

Competencies:

 

 

·       Knowledge of student Financial Aid processes and procedures.

·       Knowledge of State and Federal Financial Aid programs, regulations, and guidelines.

·       Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.

·       Skill in interpersonal relations and effectively communicating with internal and external customers.

  

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Must possess and demonstrate a High School diploma or GED AND One (1) year of work-related experience.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:

 

·       Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

·       Two (2) or more years of related work experience. 

·       Experience working in administration within the Financial Aid Office.

·       Experience in Banner Financial Aid Module

 

 

Note:  Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
