Financial Aid Technician - Effingham Campus
Under close to general supervision, the Financial Aid Technician is responsible for:
- Greets visitors and answers telephone; disseminates general financial information to students and the general public
- Determine the nature of customer needs and providing timely and accurate information
- Provides information regarding available financial and resources to students and parents and instructs students in correct procedures for completing forms and applications, special requirements and restrictions, and supporting documentation
- Sorting, processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and electronic communications
- Processing student financial aid applications and preparing student financial aid files which includes evaluating financial aid applications and supporting documents for accuracy, clarity and completeness to determine basic eligibility for financial aid
- Analyzes and determines status of applications and forms, referring complex problems to Director of Financial Aid or appropriate designee
- Maintaining inventory of all Financial Aid materials and updating appropriate Banner screens related to document intake process
- Providing administrative support, such as incidental typing and filing
- Assisting with all processes and procedures including financial aid, admissions, advisement, and registration
- Assisting with the design and execution of special events, projects, and activities as requested
- Displaying a high level of effort and commitment to performing work
- Operating effectively within the organizational structure of a fast-paced, high-volume student financial aid office
- Demonstrating trustworthiness and responsible behavior
- Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diplomat or GED *and* one (1) year of related work experience
- Experience working with the public in a customers service environment, exceptional customer focus is a must
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting or related field
- Two (2) years experience with Banner INB software
- Two (2) years documented employment with post-secondary education institution including internship, federal work study assignments, etc.
Physical Demands:
The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight, up to 25 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
