Part Time/ Adjunct Criminal Justice Instructors (Liberty Campus and Effingham Campus/High School)
Savannah Technical College is seeking Part Time/Adjunct Instructors for high school students for the Criminal Justice program in Liberty and Effingham Counties. This position is responsible for teaching students in classroom and lab environments. The Criminal Justice Instructor will be responsible for the following duties (the list is not intended to be exhaustive).
- Utilizes current curriculum and instructional materials to teach the state approved Criminal Justice curriculum to enrolled students.
- Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction.
- Develops program syllabi, goals and objectives.
- Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Maintains program certification requirements as appropriate.
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
- Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
- Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional program and other issues impacting the progress of students.
- Assists with student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Works diligently to maximize student placements in this field or related fields.
- Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia and other policies and procedures established by Savannah Technical College.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice (or related field) with 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice or related studies.
- Preference will be given to those candidates who have teaching experience and five or more years recent work experience in Criminal Justice.
Physical Demands
Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts/carries objects that weigh 10lbs. or less. Full range of hand & finger motion is utilized for data entry purposes.
Salary/Benefits
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
