JOB SUMMARY:
The Department of Community Supervision (DCS) is seeking a visionary and experienced Human Resources Director to lead and manage the agency’s HR strategy in support of our mission to enhance public safety through effective community-based supervision. We are an integral part of the criminal justice system, and we value accountability, integrity, selfless service, teamwork, and individual development. We strive to be a national leader for innovative and progressive community supervision. 


This senior-level position provides strategic leadership and oversight of all human resource staff and functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, workforce planning, compensation, benefits, performance management, and compliance.


The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of public sector HR operations, experience managing HR functions within a law enforcement or public safety environment, and a demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-accountability culture. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills are essential to foster a positive and compliant workforce that supports DCS’s critical mission. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicant must meet four (4) or more of the preferred qualifications:Master’s Degree in Human Resources or a HR specialty area, Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Labor Relations or other closely related field and three (3) years of experience in human resource management.
  • Six (6) years or more of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least four (4) years successful experience as a HR manager in hiring, recruitment, and onboarding; classification and compensation; payroll, benefits, employment law, FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, EEO, policy development, compliance audits, and employee relations.
  • Four (4) years or more managerial HR experience working in a government,  public safety, or law enforcement agency. Demonstrated experience handling sensitive, high-stakes personnel issues and working in a high-fast pace culture.
  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems ( i.e. SAO Teamworks HCM, GA@Work)  and data analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience managing centralized and decentralized staff.

High school diploma/GED and six (6) years of managerial or supervisory experience in human resources; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Sr Mgr, Human Resources (HRM012) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year. .
