Job Summary:
The Deputy Director of Auditing leads operational excellence initiatives to enhance efficiency, compliance, and overall effectiveness within DJJ. This role involves driving process improvements, mentoring teams, and ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute DJJ’s continuous improvement strategy in alignment with agency goals.
- Process Optimization: Lead cross-departmental improvement initiatives using data-driven methodologies.
- Team Development: Mentor and coach staff in best practices for operational efficiency and innovation.
- Performance Monitoring: Conduct statistical analysis of facility performance and audit results to identify trends.
- Policy & Standards Management: Review, update, and implement policies to align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Resource & Logistics Oversight: Manage travel, scheduling, and logistics for audit teams conducting statewide assessments.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate efforts between DJJ departments, external agencies, and facility teams to drive improvements.
- Human Resources & Leadership: Oversee hiring, training, evaluation, and performance management for direct reports.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to over 1,500 PREA and ACA-related standards and provisions
Entry Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes four (4) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Or eight (8) years of related professional experience which includes four (4) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Or four (4) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr 2, Business Ops (GSM011) or position equivalent.
Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven leadership experience in continuous improvement, process optimization, or compliance management.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to travel extensively across the state for audits and evaluations.
- American Correctional Association (ACA) Certified Auditor.
- Juvenile Sex Offender Counselor Certification- JSOCC.
