Custodial Supervisor

The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the implementation and delivery of an APPA Level 2 approved custodial program across multiple college sites.  The position is a second shift position starting at 12:00pm.

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating, implementing and then delivering a quality APPA Level 2 custodial program;
  • Training, assigning, directing, supervising and evaluating the work of employees engaged in maintaining the proper care of technical college buildings and facilities;
  • Assisting in the interview and selection of members of the custodial staff;
  • Coordinating, planning and supervising custodial operations for special events;
  • Maintaining an inventory and recommending selection of suitable custodial supplies and equipment;
  • Inspecting the performance of the custodial staff on a regular basis ensuring the completion of work assignments;
  • Completing quality control inspections for all buildings and all sites using APPA Level 2 benchmarking standards;
  • Maintaining time and vacation/holiday records and work schedules of custodial staff;
  • Submitting work orders to the work order system;
  • Receiving, investigating, responding to, and/or resolving complaints regarding custodial services;
  • Driving motor vehicles to reach various job sites in order to facilitate custodial operations.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of janitorial methods and procedures, materials, chemicals, disinfectants and equipment
  • Ability to use a computer and knowledge of basic computer program functions
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate to various levels of leadership

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and Three (3) years of work-related experience
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in custodial services in a college or K-12 environment
  • Full understanding of the Association of Physical Administrators Custodial Services Levels of Cleanliness
  • Prior experience in building custodial programs

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull in excess of 15lbs
  • Ability to run various custodial equipment to include floor scrubbers, burnishers, vacuums
  • Ability to use various chemicals
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, use the stairs for up to 10 hours each day

Salary/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
