Adjunct Instructor - First Year Experience Seminar
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (First Year Experience Seminar) positions in the Academic and Student Affairs division, Arts & Sciences department. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
The First Year Experience Seminar course is designed to transition, connect, and acclimate new students to Atlanta Technical College. The course creates an awareness of various campus resources and holistic skill sets necessary to achieve educational and career success. Through the nurturing of academic, personal, social, occupational, and technological talents, students develop the academic and professional skills necessary to be successful in college and the global community. The benefits of teaching FYES are numerous for the strong, serious, and caring instructor.
FYES instructors serve as educators, resources, and representatives of Atlanta Technical College. Additionally, FYES duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
· Demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
· Demonstrate the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of electronic grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.
· Demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills.
· Follows approved course syllabus.
· Advice and counsel students and maintain appropriate records for each student.
· Demonstrates knowledge of and efficient use of Blackboard.
· Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.
· Maintains classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.
· Attending meetings, as required and appropriate.
· Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.
· Assists with student recruitment and job placement.
· Serves on committees, as needed.
· Maintains qualifications for employment in accordance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.
· Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College system of Georgia Policy Manual.
· Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and
· Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Must possess and demonstrate the following:
· Master's Degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution.
· Must possess and demonstrate effective communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate the following:
· Master's Degree or higher in any field from a regionally accredited institution.
· Experience with student affairs, advising, financial aid and providing student support.
· Two (2) years of teaching experience in an academic setting.
· Must have the ability to work flexible hours when necessary and must be able to travel to other campuses and other locations throughout the community.
· Knowledge of and efficiency in the use of Blackboard learning management system and Microsoft Office experience.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent technological, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
· Possess and maintain the appropriate professional credentials for or related to the field or position.
