Adjunct Instructor - Carpentry (HRLY)
Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Carpentry Instructor (P/T) position in the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. This position is located on Atlanta Tech's Main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Industrial and Transportation Technologies, the Adjunct Carpentry Instructor (P/T) position requires a passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students, plus excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated commitment to the college mission.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Teaching carpentry and general construction courses.
- Must possess knowledge of the entire construction process from layout and design to finished construction.
- Must be able to guide students in the process of site layout, materials estimation and acquisition, inventory storage and management, etc.
- Must possess three (3) years of paid work experience in the field of carpentry or construction within the past seven (7) years.
- Work experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels included in the carpentry and construction management instructional programs.
- Occupational experience must meet the current requirements of the appropriate licensing boards for the area of instruction.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess and maintain the appropriate professional credentials for or related to the field or position (NCCER certification preferred).
- Demonstrates a positive, inclusive, and welcoming disposition.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate an Associate degree or higher AND Three (3) years of related work experience. Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND Five (5) or more years working in the field of carpentry / construction.
- Completion of a prog ram of preparation in the teaching field or discipline (Carpentry or Construction Management) at an accredited private or public post-secondary institution
- Completion of an equivalent military or company-sponsored training program, or an approved apprenticeship program.
- Diploma in carpentry and at least ten (10) years of relevant work in carpentry or construction.
- Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service and multi-task.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as technological skills.
