OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia’s four health agencies serving the state’s growing population of almost 10 million people. DCH serves as the lead agency for Medicaid, oversees the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), and includes Healthcare Facility Regulation, impacting one in four Georgians.  Through effective planning, purchasing and oversight, DCH provides access to affordable, quality health care to millions of Georgians, including some of the state’s most vulnerable and under-served populations. Six enterprise offices support the work of the agency’s four program divisions. DCH employees are based in Atlanta, Cordele and across the state.

DCH is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of SHBP Member Services Specialist with the State Health Benefit Plan Division (SHBP).

This role involves conducting research to address customer or visitor inquiries and resolving complex service issues, including escalated complaints and constituent concerns. It includes advising members or officials on relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, and handling escalated service requests from the SHBP Eligibility vendor. The position requires working independently with minimal supervision, serving as a subject matter expert, and delivering accurate, complete information using appropriate tools. Additional responsibilities include assessing member eligibility, identifying their needs, maintaining detailed records of all interactions, and collaborating with other departments to develop effective solutions.

High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience communicating information in a customer service setting; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Customer Svc Rep 2 (GST121).
