OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Federal Programs is recruiting for a Program Manager for Instruction and System Improvement. This position provides leadership in the administration of department’s Instruction and Systemic Improvement Unit, leadership for Specially Designed Instruction, and professional learning for state supported instructional programs. This position will also collaborate across divisions within the state educational agency (SEA)Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct leadership and coordination with systemic improvement efforts and all instructional related initiatives
  • Serve as a key collaborator with stakeholders to develop and implement statewide efforts to support instruction for students with disabilities at the state, regional, and local levels
  • Make recommendations for changes and improvements based on research and evaluation data
  • Communicate program plans and policies; and supervise professional education staff
  • Will support Georgia Learning Resource System 
  • Duties also include conducting training and professional learning activities, providing specialized support to LEAs, developing reports, and presentation materials. Statewide travel is required

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and one or more of the below qualifications.

  • Experience in special education, general education, or post-secondary education 
  • Experience with the Individuals Disabilities Education Act
  • Experience at the school, local district, or state level in supervising for compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.  
  • Georgia professional educator certification in special education 
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills  
  • Excellent presentation skills 
  • Expertise in instruction and systemic improvement

Bachelor's degree in education, administration, public administration, or a related administrative field in the area of assignment from an accredited college or university, L-5 certification, and two (2) years of program management experience in an educational setting.
