OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Love Georgia and all there is to see and do?  Enjoy sharing your experiences and providing travel advice?  The Georgia Visitor Information Center in Ontaria, Georgia is seeking energetic, outgoing candidates to serve as part-time Visitor Information Specialists.

Georgia’s Visitor Information Centers are the first points of contact with more than 13 million visitors each year, selling Georgia as a tourism destination.  Visitor Information Specialists greet and provide information to travelers regarding events and attractions in Georgia and provides assistance to travelers in planning routes, locating lodging, or locating mechanical, medical or other services as needed.

The Georgia Visitor Information Center in Ontaria is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. seven days per week.  We are seeking part-time Visitor Information Specialists to work on an as-needed basis, approximately 1 to 2 days per week or every other week (sometimes more).  This is a great opportunity for students, retirees or others who want a flexible part-time schedule in a fun, professional working environment.  Must have daytime availability on weekends and most weekdays, but in most cases we can work around other commitments.

Strong interpersonal skill, customer service experience and the ability to move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time while assisting and greeting visitors are required.  Weekend and weekday availability is preferred.  For more information, call (706) 649-7455.
