OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Job Description

 

Job Title:  Intake and Evaluation Program Assistant- Region 5 Field Office- Savannah

 

Pay Grade: E

  

Job Summary:

 Perform a variety of general secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions/processes or a few specialized or essential clerical functions in support of a unit or office and related personnel. May enter data and/or process documents and records. The work includes operating standard office equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a clerical or administrative supervisor.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
▪Provide customer service to internal and external customers; this includes answering calls, greeting visitors to the Regional Field Office, responding to requests for information or directing requests to the appropriate party when needed.
▪Provide general clerical support including data entry/maintenance, copying/distributing documents and materials, maintaining record-keeping and filing systems, typing, filing, sorting mail, etc.
▪Provide education, instruction and assistance on available services, benefits, resources, and the application process to individuals or families seeking waiver or state funded services
▪Provide clerical support within assigned functional area (i.e., review of applications, processing consumer documents, scheduling with providers, etc.).
▪Use independent judgment and initiative to perform administrative, clerical, and secretarial duties in support of I/DD programs or groups of employees.

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and three years of general office or administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
▪Four years of experience as a receptionist
▪Excellent customer service skills
▪Excellent skills managing confidential files
▪Ability to communicate and write clearly in English
▪Proficient with Microsoft Office

Employment Requirements
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, individuals and communities we serve, certain positions within DBHDD may require evaluations, vaccinations, professional licensure and certifications. Licenses must be current and enable providers to practice within the State of Georgia.
