OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

The mission of the Georgia Department of Public Safety is to work cooperatively with all levels of government to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our state. Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. Job Duties

Under direct supervision assists instructor with providing education, training, and/or testing to students. Prepares instructional and testing materials and maintains order and cleanliness in the learning and testing environment. Monitors and supervises various classroom and testing functions.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist instructor in maintaining an effective learning and testing environment
  • Assist students with meeting and maintaining individual needs
  • Completes documentation of testing progress
  • Distributes teaching and testing materials
  • Keeps records of observations and information about activities
  • Operates duplicating machine and other equipment as needed
  • Operates technology and testing equipment as needed
  • Maintain supplies, materials, and equipment for classroom and testing
  • Sanitizes classroom and testing equipment and materials

 

Comments:

 

This position will have a flat rate of $20 an hour. No more than 29 hours weekly. This position will be working in the Southwest Region.

High school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience working in an instructional/childcare setting OR Two years of experience required at the lower level Instruction Paraprofessional 2 (EDS011) or position equivalent.
