OVERVIEW

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) employs approximately 1600 employees and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.

Although focused primarily on the enforcement of traffic laws and investigation of traffic crashes, the Department of Public Safety will support the efforts of all public safety agencies to reduce crime, apprehend those who commit them, and respond to natural and manmade disasters. This Announcement is Open to the Public

The Local Government Services (LGS) Division is seeking a Financial Examiner 1 to support the Unclaimed Property Unit. The role involves performing accounting and fiscal control functions for the UCP Holder Team.

The Financial Examiner will have a keen eye for detail & bookkeeping skills and will provide excellent customer service by responding to customer questions and concerns via phone and email.  Most workday duties will include data entry, reconciliation of financial data, and the following:

·       Completing manual and electronic UCP reports

·       Contacting holders to resolve errors

·       Assisting UCP with vault inventory processing, as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, (ex: Business, Accounting, Finance, etc.) ~or~ three (3) years of job-related experience. 

*Note: an equivalent combination of education, training, and job-specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience, and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

**DoR contractors must have completed at least six consecutive months on the current assignment to receive consideration. 

Preferred qualifications include experience reviewing claims and/or financial documents & basic accounting skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Salary: $46,000

Location: 4125 Welcome All Rd, Atlanta GA 30349 ***This role requires a daily in-office presence.
