Job Description:

The Systems Engineer, under supervision, displays a combination of strong technical skills and knowledge of systems administration. This position administers the server and cloud environment, including O365, Microsoft Azure, and on-premises Windows servers. This position reports directly to the Infrastructure Manager.

 

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

 

·        Advanced understanding of Windows server Infrastructure

·        Review ongoing systems security and ensure compliance with Patch Management

·        Experience with Azure AD Connect and syncing objects from On-prem AD to Azure AD

·        Strong PowerShell Scripting

·        Ability to accomplish tasks both independently and collaboratively

·        Knowledge of hybrid Active Directory environment and Microsoft 365 3rd party integrations

·        Working knowledge of all Microsoft Windows Deployment Services

·        Ability to work independently with minimal direction

·        Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

·        Professional demeanor, strong interpersonal customer service skills

·        Ability to multi-task and prioritize

·        Perform other duties as assigned by Management

 

Agency Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND five (5) years of related experience OR Associate's/Vocational/Technical degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND seven (7) years of related experience OR one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Systems Analyst 3 (ITP022) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis. Agency Preferred Qualifications:

 

·        Strong Microsoft Azure and M365 Administration

·        Contribute to the development of standards, policies, and practices for Office 365

·        File server ACL management

·        Advanced experience with Microsoft Intune, including Windows Autopilot, configuration profiles, compliance policies, and application deployment.

·        Own Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management for system related issues where L1/ L2 teams cannot manage

·        Experience with configuring, deploying, and managing M365 workloads for Microsoft Teams and SharePoint

·        Experience with Microsoft Entra Connect

·        Expertise in Microsoft Entra ID authentication and configuring Conditional Access Policies, including modern Authentication Strengths

·        Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) lifecycle principles, Role Based Access Control (RBAC) and Principle of Least Privilege (PoLP) M365 Security and Compliance-related technologies including retention policies

·        Deep understanding of Active Directory, Group policies; DHCP and DNS

·        Experience with Windows Server

·        Experience with Email security and best practices

·        Experience utilizing Microsoft 365 Admin Center reports for tenant capacity planning, storage monitoring, and license optimization

·        Write and maintain custom scripts (PowerShell) to install new settings or deployments and remediate issues to support users

·        Familiar with Change Management procedures

·        Strong Written and Verbal communication skills

·        Strong customer and team interaction skills

·        Perform ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of servers and applications to ensure their ongoing availability, stability, and compliance with standards and security requirements

·        Create technical documentation on all systems designs (Visio)

·        Review ongoing systems security and ensure compliance with Patch Management

·        Server as an escalation point for junior staff and plays as a key resource for problem determination and resolution for other IT teams throughout the agency

·        Strong SCCM\MECM configuration and Administration

·        Occasional emergency after-hours support for Infrastructure outages (generally ISP issues)

·        Monitor deployed cloud resources for capacity management and scaling purposes

·        Manage the security of cloud environments

·        Ensures the uptime, performance, resource availability, and security of the server infrastructure within operational guidelines

·        Administration and maintenance of on-premises VMware vSphere/vCenter environments, including host configuration, resource allocation, and performance tuning

·        Management of enterprise backup, replication, and disaster recovery (BDR) operations utilizing Veeam Backup & Replication

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience at the lower level Systems Administrator 1 (ITP040) or position equivalent.
