Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, oversees the installation, configuration, and support to a local area network, wide area network, internet system, computers, desktops and/or mobile devices. Recommends equipment improvement or replacement. Serves as highest advanced level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

Monitor daily team activity to ensure infrastructure requests are progressing through the automation pipeline.

Assign and track technical tasks based on priorities established by leadership.

Identify, communicate, and proactively remove blockers that impede infrastructure delivery.

Lead the day-to-day operations and execution of engineering team goals

Provide and define structured workflows and ensure accountability across the team.

Maintain and organize the team's work backlog to ensure transparency.

Ensure all tickets are clearly defined, actionable, and prioritized according to developer needs.

Enforce Agile or Kanban practices, including the use of Work-In-Progress (WIP) limits and clear workflow stages.

Ensure the consistent and accurate use of tracking tools such as ServiceNow and Kanban

Drive team accountability for updating work status and meeting foundation-delivery commitments.

Effectively communicate with other business units on status of deliverables

Lead and participate in regular backlog refinement sessions.

 

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

·        High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Systems Administrator 3 (ITP042) or position equivalent

 

Agency Specific Qualifications:

·        Demonstrated ability to monitor daily team activity to ensure infrastructure requests are progressing through the automation pipeline.

·        Demonstrated experience evaluating customer requests and identifying current system requirements to recommend solutions.

·        Demonstrated experience developing strategies using new technology to manage and improve pipeline deliverables.

·        Demonstrated experience in technology assessment.

·        Demonstrated experience developing creative options for problem solving.

·        Demonstrated experience independently managing multiple assignments.

·        Demonstrated strong customer service orientation, anticipating and meeting the needs of clients in a time sensitive environment.

·        Experience negotiating to find mutually acceptable solutions.

·        Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.

·        Provide regular, clear updates on the progress of infrastructure builds, risks, and dependencies.

·        Improve inter-departmental communication to reduce misalignment on environment requirements.

 

Agency Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, or Platform operations.
  • Demonstrated experience as a team lead, project lead, or in a mentoring capacity.
  • Strong familiarity with Agile or Kanban methodologies.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable leading a team in a fast-moving and occasionally ambiguous environment.
  • ITIL Foundation certification (preferred)
