Under supervision, the Building Inspector Supervisor (Special Hazards) leads a team of Inspectors responsible for inspecting facilities and construction sites that involve hazardous materials, high-risk operations, or specialized systems.

Supervise, mentor, and coordinate the activities of Special Hazardous Inspectors conducting inspections on hazardous material storage, use, and high-risk systems.

Review and approve inspection reports, code interpretations, and enforcement actions for consistency and accuracy.

Conduct complex or high-profile inspections involving hazardous processes, explosive materials, flammable storage, toxic gases, or specialized suppression systems.

Provide technical guidance and ongoing training for staff on changes in codes, emerging hazards, and best practices.

Assist in developing department policies, inspection protocols, and quality assurance processes.

Participate in investigations of hazardous incidents, fires, chemical releases, or code violations and lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

Oversee recordkeeping, reporting systems, and performance metrics for inspection operations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Safety & Compliance Spec 3 (RCP012) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license. Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
