The position is open to all applicants that meet the minimum qualifications below. 

 

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their full-time Employment Services Specialist position within the Office of Workforce Development in the following location: Augusta. Responsibilities of this role require work to be physically performed within an assigned career center location during core business hours. This position is not eligible for telework. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

·       Conducts interviews with job, program, or unemployment applicants to obtain information needed to provide services.

·       Demonstrates the use of job listings to assist clients with skill building

·       Develops, conducts, and/or coordinates workshops and presentations to applicants on job readiness or the most current job search techniques.

·       Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with local employers to develop opportunities for clients.

·       Evaluates application information and determines initial or ongoing program eligibility.

·       Performs job counseling with applicants to identify their abilities, needs, interests, and values in relation to job and career opportunities.

·       Provides career development and assessment services to clients for the purpose of matching their application skill sets to vacancies.

·       Refers applicants to services such as counseling, literacy or language instruction, transportation assistance, and childcare.

·       Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.

·       Perform assigned duties between multiple assigned locations, to include minimal travel and outstation work within local workforce development area, as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience or Associate’s degree.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

·       Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) and related Wagner-Peyser (WP) Act.

·       Experience with delivery of Employment Services.

·       Experience delivering presentations in groups.

·       Bilingual/Spanish speaking.

·       Knowledge of state and federal regulations.

·       Basic computer skills and ability to adapt to job-related software programs

·       Organizational skills

·       Project management skills

·       Superior oral and written communication skills

·       Skills in interpersonal relations and customer service

·       Decision making and problem-solving skills

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK CONDITIONS

·       Work performance involves light physical duties, including intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.

·       Employees must be able to lift up to ten (10) pounds
