Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Allied Health) position in the Allied Health division.  This position is located on Atlanta Tech's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. 

 

Under general supervision, the Adjunct Instructor (Allied Health) will be responsible for providing instruction for credited allied health core course syllabus, ensuring the outcomes meet the stated objectives.  This position requires passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching, learning and advisement of a diverse student population.   This is a part-time position, up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.

 

Job duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

 

·       Demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques.

·       Demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills.

·       Demonstrate the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures; including proper maintenance of grade books and any other record-keeping required.

·       Prepare curriculum and syllabus for coursework being taught.

·       Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.

·       Follow approved course syllabus.

·       Administer and grade examinations.

·       Maintain records of student attendance and grades.

·       Attend in-service training, workshops and seminars as needed.

·       Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

·       Meet with students, staff members, and supervisors as needed.

·       Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by complying with college health and safety legislation and regulations.

·       Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.

·       Follow rules and regulations as defined by TCSG and other policies and procedures established by the Atlanta Technical College.

·       Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Competencies:

·       Skills in developing lesson outlines and materials.

·       Knowledge of vocational area if assignment.

·       Skills in presenting subject matter.

·       Skills in administering tests to evaluate progress.

·       Skills in the use of computers and job-related software programs.

·       Skills in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners.

·       Oral and written communication skills.

·       Knowledge of student information systems.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

 

·       Associate degree in a Healthcare profession from a regionally accredited institution.

·       Three (3) years of work experience within the last five (5) years.

·       Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for courses assigned.

·       BLS CPR Required.

·       Must be proficient in teaching infection control/blood and air-borne pathogens, vital signs, and basic emergency care/first aide and triage.

 

 

Preferred Requirements:

 

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

 

·       Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Healthcare Profession from a regionally accredited institution.

·       Five (5) or more years of directly related work experience.

·       Documented teaching experience at a post-secondary institution.

·       Documented experience using Learning Management Systems (i.e. Black Board Ultra).

 

 

WORK SCHEDULE:   Must be available to teach both day and evening classes, will vary per semester.
