Juvenile Justice, Georgia Department of - DJJ

Job Summary:

Under broad supervision, evaluates behavioral, emotional, and cognitive disorders for justice-involved youth placed in secure residential facilities. Applies theory relating to behavior and mental processes to formulate and administer treatment programs as a clinical member of a multidisciplinary team. Helps youth work toward the maintenance and enhancement of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social functioning.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations
  • Provide clinical supervision to behavioral health staff
  • Evaluate and monitor mental health clinical services to ensure they are being delivered they are being delivered in accordance with professional standards
  • Provide clinical treatment services to youth, including individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and psychoeducational programming
  • Provide consultation and/or crisis intervention for youth who present emergent issues that pose a potential risk to themselves or others
  • Provide clinical education, consultation and leadership for staff who work in secure residential facilities
  • Provide on-call remote consultation.

Minimum Qualifications:  

 Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice psychology.

Note: License may be temporary, provisional, or permanent.

 

 Preferred Qualifications:  

·       Experience working with justice involved youth in residential treatment settings,

·       Experience providing clinical supervision to treatment staff,

·       Training and experience in trauma-focused interventions
