Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education is recruiting for an experienced Accounting Manager in Grants Accounting Manager I. Under limited supervision and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) this position performs professional accounting duties, such as recording financial transactions, preparing accounting reports, and providing information to auditors and other third parties.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze grant data and transactions to ensure accuracy
- Analyze, record, and interpret financial transactions
- Review, maintain, and analyze information to ensure compliance with administrative procedures
- Perform operational analysis of accounting system(s)
- Monitor and reconcile multiple federal and state grants
- Prepare specialized and standard accounting reports and information for auditors and other third parties
- Post general ledger adjustments
- Provide input into policies and procedures and/or develop and maintain budget and financial records for a section or unit
- Analyze and reconcile accounting data and transactions that require knowledge of complex rules and regulations and use of research and/or problem-solving skills
- Respond to inquiries for resolution of accounting problems or for information or interpretation from third parties such as banks, auditors, vendors and governmental entities; and notifying appropriate personnel of pending audit actions.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be considered for applicants who meets one or more of the preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications
- Experience in federal and state grants management
- Experience in governmental accounting
- Experience in utilizing Teamworks Financial
- Experience with school system grants management
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel
