Technical Faculty – Associate of Science in Nursing

 

JOB SUMMARY

Technical Faculty deliver current, industry-relevant instruction, effectively utilize instructional resources, and support student success and workforce readiness through the teaching and learning process.  Faculty implement, revise, and evaluate assigned program coursework and instructional materials in alignment with state standards, accreditation requirements, and the college’s approved curriculum.

MAJOR DUTIES

·         Develops, implements, and maintains course outlines and program objectives that support student success and comply with State Board policies, accreditation standards, and the college’s approved curriculum;

·         Develops course syllabi and lesson plans and delivers instruction using creative and innovative teaching methods and instructional technologies within the approved instructional time;

·         Evaluates and documents student progress, performance, knowledge, and skill attainment and provides timely feedback in accordance with college and state guidelines;

·         Coordinates and supervises experiential learning components for the program area, including live work, practicums, simulated environments, and internship courses, and ensures required documentation is accurate and current;

·         Maintains accurate student attendance records in accordance with SRTC Procedure 6.5.1sr2. – Attendance and Withdrawal;

·         Accurately reports no shows each semester in accordance with guidelines set by the Registrar;

·         Requests and maintains instructional supplies, tools, and equipment and submits required budget requests in accordance with college procedures;

·         Maintains applicable program, licensure, and/or industry certification requirements as required for instructional programs;

·         Prepares and maintains required instructional, accreditation, and administrative documentation and reports in accordance with applicable laws and regulations;

·         Develops and implements a lab management and safety plan to ensure safety, security, and compliance in instructional and laboratory environments;

·         Confers with students, staff, and other faculty to discuss instructional programs and issues affecting student progress and retention;

·         Understands and complies with the components of the annual faculty evaluation process;

·         Provides academic and career advisement to students, including accurate and timely information related to career pathways, employment opportunities, and workforce preparation;

·         Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement activities;

·         Recruits and encourages participation of students from underrepresented genders in nontraditional programs;

·         Maintains contact with business and industry partners to remain current with technological advancements, workforce trends, and community needs, and to support student employment opportunities;

·         Demonstrates a commitment to customer service by maintaining professional, courteous, and respectful relationships with students, parents, employers, colleagues, and the general public;

·         Complies with State Board and college policies and procedures;

·         Faculty with responsibilities for student and campus activity beyond the classroom serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by The Clery Act, forward reports of crimes to the Campus Police Department, and participate in annual CSA training;

·         Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and professional development activities;

·         Performs other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

·         Knowledge of pedagogical practices and instructional theory applicable to technical education

·         Knowledge of the mission and purpose of postsecondary technical education

·         Knowledge of applicable academic, program, and state instructional standards

·         Knowledge of the college’s academic and workforce education programs

·         Skill in planning, preparing, and delivering effective classroom and laboratory instruction

·         Skill in assessing student learning and providing constructive feedback

·         Skill in working cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners

·         Skill in decision-making and problem-solving within an instructional environment

·         Skill in the use of computers, instructional technology, and job-related software applications

·         Skill in interpersonal relations and customer service when interacting with students, the public, and college personnel

·         Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·         A master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university

·         Three years relative work experience within the last seven years

·         Required Active License and Certification: RN, CPR

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the minimum qualifications:

·         Expertise in maternal/child nursing, including obstetric, neonatal, and pediatric care

·         Experience in curriculum development, clinical partnerships, and faculty collaboration

·         Prior teaching experience

·         Excellent written and verbal skills
