Summary/Objective:

Under general supervision, installs, configures, and supports a local area network, wide area network, internet system, computers, desktops and/or mobile devices. Performs necessary maintenance to support network availability.

Note: The intent of this role is advanced level administration of O365/Azure and on-premises environment. This role is not intended for PC end user support or entry level Systems Admin support. This position may be filled as a Systems Administrator 1 based on the experience of the candidate.

Essential Functions:

1. Designs, configures, and tests computer hardware, networking software and operating systems software

2. Diagnoses hardware and software problems, replace defective components

3. Escalates problems to vendor and/or developer for advanced debugging or software correction

4. Evaluate new technologies or solutions to improve service and efficiency or systems

5. Monitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made.

6. Operates consoles to monitor performance of the computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use

7. Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations

8. Performs routine network startup and shut down procedure, and maintain control records

9. Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware

10. Prepares user instructions and documentation for the installation and operation of software and software upgrades

11. Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate process

12. Identifies, recommend updates, and performs maintenance to the current network, computer systems, and systems architecture.

13. Prepares documentation and procedures

Preferred Education and Experience:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the required education and experience, possess one or more of the following:

• Three years of Microsoft Azure administration

• Three years of Microsoft 365 administration

• Three years of Microsoft server administration

• Three years of Microsoft Active Directory administration

• Two years of VMware administration

• Two years of Network administration

Certifications in one of the following: Azure Administrator, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Supervisory Responsibility:

May serve as a Team Lead

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. This position may involve managing a high-volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Reasonable accommodation can be made available to qualified individuals upon request.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience at the lower level Systems Administrator 1 (ITP040) or position equivalent.
